Artist statement

In my work I combine imaging techniques such as photography and video to explore our visual perception. What is the essence of an image? How do we perceive objects, space and the world around us and what are the boundaries of perception? Based on these research questions, I create video installations, photographic series and other multimedia pieces. I take my inspiration from anything I come across – may it be in daily life, nature or film. However, my biggest source of inspiration is light. It fascinates me, that light determines how we perceive a scene or a space. In my work I often play with that fact in order to put our usual viewing habits on the proof. I strive to create balanced and concentrated pieces of work which invite the viewer to see differently.
